Superheroes and me Prologue and Chapter 1

1st January
We all loved comic books and super heroes ever since we were little.  We’d play super power games all the time, Sammy would have mind powers he would pretend to move things with his mind and read people’s thoughts. Alice always chose super strength; one punch could break through concrete walls and no matter what ‘hit’ her it would just make her stronger. Greg favoured the power of flight and super speed; running around in circles to cause tornadoes and flying to spy on the enemy.  Lucy would always be the leader of the group, her super power was energy, the ability to create energy and blast things.  Louis always played the alien from another planet with all the cool gadgets and super knowledge.
And what was I?
Well they already had five heroes and the villains were always imaginary so I was the helpless victim. Every. Single. Time.  I never got to be the rescuer, ever. I wasn’t even allowed to have super powers because otherwise what was the point in rescuing a civilian who could beat up the bad guy themselves. I didn’t want to be the no powers civilian but someone had to be but to be honest if I did have super powers of my own I would at least have the decency to tell my friends before I went out  saving the world.
Because without me; well they would dead.

Around a month ago.....
31th November, Sunday evening.
Snot fair, why? Why me?  Out the six of us how come I’m the only one that manages to catch the flu? Achooo! I mean yesterday it was sunny, the day before it was sunny and so was the d, day before that. So, so how did I manage to catch the flu and they didn’t?  I had the sssame lessons as S, Sammy, Lucy, Greg, Alice and Louis but they’re not sick. Well not yet anyway.
Oh bu by the way my names Demi, not Debbie, Debs or the Debbster Its Demi. Sammy, Lucy, Greg, Alice and Louis are all my friends; we’ve been friends since primary school. I’m the youngest; at fifthteen the others are only a couple of months older than me doh. In order of birthdays it would go Lucy, Greg, Sammy, Alice, Louis then me. Achooo! Ah gar me nose. All these green. Sorry that’s not a picture you want in your head.
Everyone was gonna go to a bonfire tonight in all. I was gonna go too but then I caught a fever, so I’m stuck in bed till Friday at least. Suppose I should look on the bright side, I didn't have to go to school tomorrow so I'll miss the science test. Aww too bad....although I bet Louis will text everyone the answers to the test before hand.
There’s supposed to be a meteor shower tonight too, that’s why I’m sat on my bed with a telescope with a perfect view of the sky from my bedroom window. Achooo! Well I don’t actually know if I’d see anything from here it looks to cloudy. But I bet on Creeks Hill you’d be able to see the meteor shower (that’s where the bonfire is) I like space, not in a science type of way but in a Dr Who type of way. Yeah my bedroom walls are covered in posters of Darleks and Comic Book Super Heroes.
We’re all like that you see; we all like comics and Sci-Fi adventure films and TV programmes. We even thought about organised a comic book club at school once but then Lucy thought that’d be a silly idea, there were already six of us in our group any more and our hobby wouldn't be ‘just ours’. Lucy is kind of the ringleader of the group, when we played games when we were little she was always the leader. The rest of us are kind of her entourage. Nope, it’s too cloudy. Sigh.
Greg’s probably gone hyper by now either by sugar rush or the excitement of the meteor shower now he is astrology crazy, he wants to work in them big telescopes when he’s older. Sammy’ll be scoffing marshmallows around about now while Alice takes hundreds of photographs for photography and Louis would be avoiding the flames of the fire and ignoring the sky, he’s most likely not even on top of the hill yet. He’s probably got sidetracked by a grasshopper in a puddle then Lucy would march down the hill tell him to stop messing around and drag him up the hill. No nonsense Lucy is, she has no patience for time-wasters yet as the eldest she sort of looks out for us all even though we’re not related.
I'm part of the group too; you could say I was the peace keeper if there were any arguments (mainly between Lucy and Sammy or anyone else who happened to disagree with her). Oh wow! Look, Look the sky! It’s all lit up the whole sky, the clouds are that is. It’s like a lightning flash only the clouds are flashing purple, blue, yellow, green and blue!!! What is this?! Is this happening elsewhere too? Wait what about at Creeks Hill? –all my friends are there! Wait here, I'm running downstairs to see if this is on the news........................

Nope nothing it’s weird; the lightning flashes have stopped now, I hope everyone’s all right. I know I’ll phone them. Yeah, oh you like my phone? Thanks it’s new. Alice will have her phone on her for defiant, dialling ...ringing it’s ringing........its gone dead. I’ll try again.....
.......................
............
No one’s answering their phones at all. I can’t phone them any more it’s one in the morning and it would be a little bit excessive to make another call, plus I've ran out of credit and battery and I'm tired. Maybe... maybe all their phones........are turned...off or.....some....thing.
Yeah... that’s it.
I'm going to bed, my head hurts.
